October to March — Best Time to Visit
The optimal travel window for most visitors. Temperatures are moderate (24–30°C in Hargeisa), rainfall is minimal, road conditions are at their best, and all major sites are easily accessible.
Dec – Jan (Peak)
Absolute best months. 25–28°C pleasant, excellent road conditions, ideal for archaeology, beach, and photography. Book well in advance.
Oct – Nov (Post-Rains)
Green landscape after seasonal rains, temperatures cooling, generally good conditions. Excellent for birdwatching and nature.
Apr – Jun (Rainy Season)
Main gu rains. Lush green landscape, peak nomadic activity. Some roads impassable. For experienced, flexible travellers only.
Jul – Sep (Hot Season)
Berbera can reach 45°C+. Hargeisa 30–36°C. Hargeisa International Book Fair in August is the key draw.
